Weatherseal insulation

Hi saving experts,
Today some one at our door from weatherseal insulation, they got so many cavity wall insulation kits so, they are doing these insulations for free. the person filled in a form with name, address national insurance number, date of birth and few details about the house and i have signed that form, he gave me a copy of the form, he said some will call me and make an appointment, some girl called up after half an hour and made an appointment for after two weeks, whether any one think this is genuine or some kind of scam. i can't really think of anything. can some one please point me in right direction, i don't know whether i am posting in the right forum either. please please help. Thank you.

  • Given the fact you`ve handed out a lot of confidential information.. how does it sound to you?

Weatherseal have always had a reputation and it isn`t a good one. The offer may well be true but I wouldn`t have given that info out, especially not to a Weatherseal rep.

  • Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I know after giving the details, i didn't feel right that's why i have given this message. I have phoned up Weatherseal this morning and the person who answered recognizes the name of rep i have given. so, he is definitely from weatherseal and the person reckons they will do different promotions all the time. But with the information i have provided what can happen and what i can do to prevent it. Please advise. Thank you.
  • That information is required to claim funding under the CERT scheme which covers household insulation and would normally fund most of the cost of insulation to your home (all of it in some cases - those on benefits or the elderly, in brief). As the trade is a little quiet at the moment, a number of installers are running schemes whereby they live off the CERT funding and don't impose any extra charges on those who would not normally qualify for free insulation. Can't comment on the company, but that information isn't unusual.
