DLA is for care or mobility needs so if he has neither of those he wont qualify0

DLA has nothing to do with whether or not you can work.
As karenx said, it's about care and mobility needs. Some people with depression will be entitled to DLA because they have needs like having to have someone with them when you go out because of psychiatric problems, someone to watch over them if there is a risk of self harm, someone to encourage them to get up, get washed, eat and so on.
If he decides to apply for it, getting help from CAB or welfare rights with the form is worth doing as it's not the easiest of forms to complete.0 -
I claim DLA for BP (Depression) And I have been getting it for 6-8 years indef, LR and MR. I also work part-full time... But am on sick as of this week, It's really hard going. BUT Can't wait to get back to work as being off to long will make me sink.
It's worth a try to claim for it, I mean DLA is much easier to get than ESA in my experience anyway. Just read through the forms before filling them out, took me 3 goes to get it. Aswel as doc/phys/cpn/parents/OT letters..0 -

Really, what system are you claiming through? There's nailed on cases getting turned down, even renewals. I suppose it is because "disability" get claimed for all sorts of "illnesses", so many get turned down
Tin hat on for all the flack!0 -
She said DLA was "easier" than ESA - not that either of them were easy!0
