Evening all,
I am normally on top of things finance wise (currently in 2nd house, aged nearly 26) and have never had any defaults, late payments, overdraft charges or anything, ever!
However, I forgot to pay my minimum CC payment (I owe around £140) of £5 which was forgot about on the side. I got charged a late payment fee of £12 (the credit card is HSBC) and a mention on the letter about a default sum notice.
I have looked into it and before I start panicking realised that is the term all creditors use even for a 'late payment.
So ultimately the question is;
Will this ONE late payment potentially jeopardise my hopeful mortgage application in year and half with Skipton (95% LTV) as I imagine their credit scoring is very strict for that LTV?
Positive answers please, :j this one thing cannot jeopardise me getting my ideal house....:(
fingers crossed....

best to check what's on your credit files
but a single late payment is unlikely to have any significant effects0 -
Look on your credit file. Is it even on there?
At 95% a lender may be stricter, so if it is on your credit file don't assume everything everything will be rosey.
I'd focus on making sure every paymeent is made on time from now on and trying to get a 10%-15% deposit together. That will give a wider choice of mortgages.Positive answers please0 -

At the moment, a single late payment can kill an application if they are pushing other limits. e.g 95% mortgage or top end of affordability. My mortgage adviser had one rejected turned down by a few lenders recently because credit file showed a single late payment. He got it placed in the end but it restricted options.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. No-one can say for sure, you'll just have to wait and see. I'm not sure why you put 'positive answers only' as this negates the point of asking0 -
At 95% or even 90% you will likely need to be squeaky clean, I have had Skipton turn down apps at 85% for less, Skipton can be very fussy.
As has been said check your credit file before pannicking.I am a mortgage adviser.You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
