Watch out for Norwich Union rip off

I have been with Norwich Union for over 4 years for my appliance cover. I made a couple of claims over the last 2 yrs for a faul on the washing machine.
I have just received a letter from them saying ' due to the high level of claims they will be cancelling my policy from February.
I am fuming over this. Whats the point of paying for insurance cover if when you claim, they cancel your cover. This smacks of a real scam.
Any one else had this sort of experience.

Domestic and General want £100 to cover my dishwasher for 12 months, i can buy a new one for an extra £600

There is no scam here - they just don't want your business anymore as they can't make a profit from it. I assume NU paid out on your 2 claims."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I am afraid that this is how the insurance industry works. They want careful (or lucky!) customers who always pay but seldom claim. People who make frequent claims will cause them to lose money.
I keep insurance in case of a real catastrophe, but set the voluntary excess as high as possible to minimise the amount of premium that I have to pay. And in most cases I just meet my own loss, so that the insurers think I am careful and offer me a good deal.0 -
2 claims is nothing , i presume its the policy that covers several household items ?0
