    to be honest ive never seen a reference that goes into such detail. all my references simply state that ive been an excellent and reliable worker and worked with them from x to x date. it doesnt give any indication of why i left

    surely the 2 refs above could be written in either situation (apart from the sentence about handing in her notice), it entirely depends on how her workplace feel about her. she could resign and they could say the same as the second ref? it doesnt even mention how she left

    Well it must be industry standard or you have been lucky/coincidence.

    Yes thats the point if she can "manage" her way out then she gets influence what goes in the reference as part of an exit deal.

    well i would have thought resigning is part of managing her way out, its much easier for them, no procedures to go through, but unless they're really peed off with her, i would imagine they will say that she will be missed and was a good worker (if she was), whether she resigns or not is not really relevant to what will go on a reference

    So youre extremely lucky to have the good health to be so.

    If you were ill, disabled etc you may not be able to be so, through no fault of your own of course.

    So we must all count our blessings.
    make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
    and we will never, ever return.
