Wireless in a large house?

Hi all im looking for recommendations as im going to set up a wireless network in a friends house which is probably double the size of the average house. Has anyone any positive reviews of any wireless routers over these larger distances. Ive only used belkin Pre-N before now and if there are no better solutions or suggestions i'll go with that again but im open to any comments. Also are there any that support direct connection of a printer ie without a computer direct to the router, so documents could be sent to the printer from the laptop around the house. Any comments much appreciated?
Thanks
Ben

Everyone has their own preference for routers (mine is Netgear at the moment) but you'll probably want to consider something like the following to boost your signal to the far flung reaches of the house.

It's also worth remembering that wi-fi passes through floors easier than it does walls... this should help when considering where to place your router.0 -
I use a linksys at work, it goes from my office to my mum's house which is a separate building about 30 metres away. I have an HP2750 directly connected to it, so I can print from the laptop wirelessly. I hear Netgear are very good routers as well.0

So do you have the printer connected directly to the wireless router with out a print server and this allows you to print from the laptop wirelessly?? Also what model router are you using?murphy61 wrote:I use a linksys at work, it goes from my office to my mum's house which is a separate building about 30 metres away. Also does anyone know if a printer could be directly attached to the new belkin n1 wireless router enabling what ive stated above.
Sorry should also add that the router will not have a computer connected to it, the router will just be connected to phone line on its own to provide wireless for the laptop. Thanks

That's right. But it's a network printer, although it can be connected to a pc via usb like a normal printer. It cost £99 from Viking Direct. I'm very pleased with it. It also scans and copies to any pc on the network, or to a memory card without a pc connected. As for the router, I can't remember offhand what model it is but I'll look when I'm in next. But you can do this with any router. The trick is to make sure it's in the middle of the house if possible.
Also, you can get this but it's expensive...0 -
Have you considered home plug?
Its where the network signals travel through power lines.
A mate who lives in a large old house swears by it.
