Kylie concert cancellation

We attended the Kylie concert in Manchester last night which had to be curtailed after less than an hour due to ill health. My partner & I travelled from Suffolk and stayed in a hotel over night, two other members of our party travelled from Madrid specially for the concert. Does anyone know if we should be entitled to compensation for our travel/accomodation expenses.

Five of my friends went to see Kylie in Manchester last night. Travelled from North Of Scotland & stayed in a travel lodge.
I do hope you all get some sort of compensation.0 -
You got to see an hour of the concert. Why not settle for a refund on the ticket? This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0

There will be clauses in the terms and conditions of ticket sales concerning this and no promoter or venue could afford to risk staging events if they had to take on such a liability.
Apart from the cost of for example refunding someone who claimed to have travelled first class from Australia to see the show, the administration of claims would be a nightmare. Every less than honest ticket holder would claim to have spent a fortune travelling and booking hotels etc.
£100 ticket sale but £1,000 refund for a cancellation?:D
There is also a legal thing called force majeure.
Force majeure is a common clause in contracts which essentially frees one or both parties from liability or obligation when an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of the parties prevents one or both parties from fulfilling their obligations under the contract.0 -
Calm down, the poor woman is ill! I have it on good authourity (someone who works with the promotors) that the promotors are going to rearrange the concerts and there will be a shorter concert for those that only got a short show.
I don't know when but it will be held in the North (maybe not MEN) when teh schedule allows and Kylie is back to good health. I can't guarentee this but my sister is also affected in the same way as you so I called my friend to check.
Good luck - Did you enjoy what you saw? There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0 -
For those coming from Spain, do they not have travel insurance that could cover this? I don't know how likely it is that travel insurance would cover this even if they had it, but it's worth a look.0

On the MEN Arena site:
Monday 15 January tickets now valid for Sunday 21 January
Tuesday 16 January tickets now valid for Monday 22 January
Anyone who can't attend the rearranged dates should return their tickets to the point of purchase no later than THIS FRIDAY (Fri 19 January) to claim a refund.
Please note, there is still no news about Kylie's show on Saturday 13 January being rescheduled at present. Please continue to check back here for the latest information.
