Writing (not wording) on invites /placecards

Im going to make our stationary (or im gonna try!)
I understand that i can print menus, order of service etc but on the invites and name cards -where i need to put individual peoples names, has any one got any ideas that mean i dont have to use my truly-awful handwriting?
Would it be possible to get a stamp that you can change the letters on? I dont want to try and trace/stamp indivudual letters as im sure it'll end up all over and uneven so im thinking something where it would stamp a whole name at once?? does that exist?
Is there a better way? ...i really cant think and Id hate my "hard work" in making it all to be ruined by my horrible handwriting...
thanks

You can get them printed for you on eBay quite cheaply. Or, ask someone very very nicely if they will write them for you and you'll owe them one?0

How are you printing them (type of printer / software)?
Could you do a mail-merge so every one gets nicely personalised invitation, reply slip, order of service, envelope and seat/table ticket etc?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I used a template in word and altered the wording to suit me just means you will have to change the name to the individual guest before printing, if that makes sense!0

You can get individual letter stamps (that aren't mounted onto wood) and get a clear plastic stamp mount that you can then line the letter stamps on before inking and stamping onto your card. However, you will end up with inky fingers when changing the letters and you run the risk of getting ink where you don't want to from accidentally inking the stamp mount!
As a crafter, I love using stamps and inks, but I would follow other advice and get it printed - it will be much quicker and less stressful as well as probably cheaper (You're looking at around £8 for the stamps from a craft shop and about £5 for the mount).0 -
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, but are you saying i would take 130 place cards into a printer and then ask them to print each one with a different name? same with the 65 invites?

sorry, missed that you had asked how im printing them owain
Either begging to borrow someones printer and/or Vista print for the "main wording" and then i would just need to hand write (or hopefully somethign else) the persons name on the invite/placecard
Im not sure how i would put the invites through a printer to get them printed...again im probably being stupid

I've done this before for another project. The trick is to have two people - one does the 'dirty' work - takes old letters out, puts in the new letters, inks it, hands it to the person doing the 'clean' work: lining up the paper and stamping it. Never ever cross the two jobs and you'll be fine.
also - don't forget to ALWAYS make a test stamp on scrap paper to check the letters are in the right order and everything is correct before going ahead on the final piece!Life on a shoestring!0 -
if you create them all as a long document with lots of repeats with just the name changed, then it should be easy for them to print out. it sounds like a mail merge job in word to me as well - might be a tedious job setting everyone's address up (i would probably set up an excel spreadsheet, but it has been suggested that i am a little too keen to spreadsheet everything in lifeCezzabelle wrote: »Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, but are you saying i would take 130 place cards into a printer and then ask them to print each one with a different name? same with the 65 invites?
), but you could also get all the envelopes done that way as well. plus the spreadsheet is then a useful way to keep a check on who has replied and if they have any dietary issues (i may have a problem with my need to form lists like this.....)

(the instructions will change depending on what software exactly you're using - but there isn't much in microsoft that you can do that doesn't have a million online guides there for free!):happyhear0
