When to make a Second Offer?

Options
I sold an item on Ebay (auction finished Sunday evening). 2 people were bidding on it and the person who lost later messaged me asking if I had another one the same- I didn't.
But, the person who won the item has (up to now) not yet paid. I left it until Monday evening and sent the invoice and I know I can't do a NPB until 4 days are up - which is tomorrow evening.

Should I now do a Second Offer to the buyer who lost the auction - or wait until the 4 days are up? Never had this happen before and feel a bit peeved that the lady who really wanted it lost out to someone who is not rushing to pay!

You can't really make the offer until you are sure the bidder wants to pay - and you are one day off being able to open an NPB dispute.

You can't really do the SCO with any confidence until next Monday. I know it's tedious, but it's better than it being 16 days from start to finish like it used to be.

  • The first transaction needs to be ended properly before sending a second chance offer, otherwise the transaction is still marked on eBay and PayPal with the first buyer with whom you've a contract.

There's nothing to stop you messaging the second bidder asking if they're still interested in a second chance offer if the first one doesn't pay, then sending it when the NPB is finished.
(although you risk getting their hopes up for nothing if the first one pays, it would be a shame to lose the sale)

Just had a similar situation. Winning bidder didn't pay and no repsonse to messages so I raised the NPB at the earliest possible oppurtunity (4 days). Buyer still didn't pay so closed the case after another 4 days (and the ignorant buyer got a deserved strike!) and then made the 2nd chance offer to next highest bidder. They no longer wanted it so made a second, second chance offer to the 3rd highest bidder and they bought it. All a bit long winded but sold it in the end and without having to relist so worth it in the end.

Yes, I suppose I've just got to wait it out. I did tell the unsuccessful bidder straight away, that I would give her a second chance offer if the first bidder did not pay. Just hope she will still want it in another 5 days time!
