Never seen one of those before...! That's one pricey heater. There may be other manufacturers which offer an alternative?

Hi, it isnt just a heater, it creates a vortex so dries the body very well. Perfect for the disabled. There is another body dryer that sits in a corner, but its no where near as efficient. As far as i know, there are no alternatives yet!0

Have you tried contact the manufacturer directly, if it is discontinued I expect alot of their resellers would have sale or return contracts so they may have a warehouse full they may wish to sell to you, I got the contact details below from thier website.

Thanks Mikey. Thats the weird thing. They sold out of them everywhere. There doesnt seem to be any reason for discontinuing them!0

There are many varied reason for discontinuing a product ranging from not enough sales margin, maintenance issues, supply of parts, safety issues, etc, etc....
BUT - if they have been discontinued then the chances of getting replacement parts in the event of a breakdown are going to be remote or very very expensive.
EDIT: Wow - even a replacement Remote Control is £77.10
EDIT 2: Notice that the PCB is Obsolete“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
Whats the PCB? Would you hazard a guess as to why they have been discontinued?0

The PCB is the Printed Circuit Board for the electronics - the "brain" of the machine.
As for discontinued - unfortunately that is like asking how long is a piece of string..
Couldn't find any evidence of a recall (usually following safety concerns) so maybe Triton just wanted to concentrate on Showers as their main business? Maybe they did not get enough orders in justify the manufacture costs? It really is guess work....
EDIT: -
"Sale or return" means that, if the retailers could not sell the stock, then the manufacturer (in this case Triton) would take them back and the retailer would not have to pay for the returned stock (or receive a refund if paid upfront).
The same thing happens with daily newspapers - the newsagents only pay for what they sell. The remaining stocks are collected as the next days newspapers are delivered and the paper recycled.
So - it is not necessarily true that the Body Dryers have all sold out - there may have been very little stock sold. Hence Mikey_D stating that Triton may have a warehouse full of them ready for disposal / recycle. ( I would imagine they would need to hold on to a small stock for repairs / warranty claims for units they did manage to actually sell.)“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. I asked the manager of a disability bathrooms shop about it, he had tried to get to the bottom of it but couldnt. He said it may be something to do with the managers of the company falling out and throwing the dolls out of the pram. If he cant get to the bottom of it, then no one can i guess. He said they sold really well!!!
There isnt a big warehouse of them stocked up, believe me, i have tried everywhere!0 -
This is an interesting thread which suggests that they had some design problems: http://www.theiet.org/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=205&threadid=35737
Could be why they recalled them?
