We have the Disney Mickey waffle maker, and it is excellent, nice size waffles, no sticking at all (no need to grease before putting the batter in) and, of course, DS and DD love the fact its a Mickey!!!!

I have a Tchibo one, but not like the one you linked too. It is more like the Lakeland one. Sad to say I have never got round to using it! Mainly because I dont really have any waffle recipes. Anyone got any foolproof ones? I like the taste of the ones you buy, so anything on those lines would be great.

Just found this on the Lakeland website:

I think I'll be trying these out, I wonder whether buttermilk would make a nice alternative to plain yogurt ?

I also have the smaller one from Tchibo - used it for the first time this weekend, yummy, yummy, full tummy! I went for the classic maple syrup and vanilla ice-cream combo on top. :)

Anyway, here is the recipe I used -

    WAFFLES:

    2 free-range eggs, seperated
    80g caster sugar
half teaspoon vanilla extract (the proper stuff, not vanillan/ vanilla favouring!)
    60g unsalted butter, melted
    180g plain flour
    half teaspoon baking powder

    Warm up the waffle maker.
Whisk the egg whites to soft peaks.
In seperate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla extract until creamy. Whisk in the melted butter, then the flour & baking powder (gradually) then whisk in the milk to form a thick, smooth batter. Gently fold in the egg-whites (I stir in a spoonful of egg-white first and then fold in the rest). I also do everything with the whisk attachment of a braun hand-blender as it's much quicker and easier on the arms! :)

That's it - just cook the batter in the waffle maker and serve with delicious toppings of your choice. Green & Black's vanilla ice-cream with lashings of maple syrup goes down a treat, chopped nuts or bananas go well with this combo too. :)

You can halve the recipe above to make about 3 or 4 Tchibo sized waffles.

    Good waffle: :)

    Bad waffle: :(

  • I have the Tchibo one that makes two round waffles that are split into 5 and we're very happy. Having said that it maybe makes more German style waffles but as that is where I ate them first, it brings back fond memories

Hi Jump, I tried that recipe last night, was a bit sceptical about using yoghurt but it's delicious! :) The batter was much more runny than my usual recipe (above) but I poured it into the wafflemaker and it turned out fine. Quick and easy too - just mix everything together and stand for 10 mins. Made extra, so I froze a couple and kept a couple for tonight. The recipe says reheat in microwave but I thought that might make them soggy, so I used the toaster - worked fine!

Have you tried buttermilk yet? Sure it would work fine although it's a bit more sour...?

Also a tip for Tchibo waffle iron owners - the waffles seem to be a bit softer than the way I like em so just cook as normal then whack them in the toaster for a couple of mins to crisp up.

yum! I am addicted to waffles now! :(
