  • Thanks for popping by, silkglade and savingholmes - nice to have company on the journey!! Best of luck with your aims too!

Like so many others on the forum, I was worrying every waking minute (figures going round my head!), feeling tense constantly and so weary with it all that I thought, 'Hey, this can't be right, this is totally MISERABLE!!!'
This website and the forums in particular have been an immense help to me; money worries and debt are generally taboo and being able to share this here takes a huge weight off. I've been amazed, reading other people's stories, how the debt can be reduced gradually but dramatically by making changes.

I've been checking in every day - which helps me to stay focussed.

    I've made a lot of changes -

Am now aware of what goes out each month
Have started selling on Ebay - all income will go to CC
Have registered for most of the online surveys
Have cut spending - food, latters, clothes
Have joined the 10 steps a day thread (am doing 5 for now)

And I will now look at more ways to increase my income (am self employed).

Thanks for reading - really enjoying following your stories too.

We're in similar situations...I'm also self employed and its so motivating to me in terms of my business knowing that I am in complete control of how quickly I can pay off my debts by pushing forward with it all and working my !!! off. It's also a little scary but not as scary as the thought of having these debts over my head.

Well done and good luck :) I'll subscribe to your diary

  • I am at the stage where I need motivating all the time. Updating my signature regularly and keeping my targets appropriate really help.

I just wish people would spend more on my ebay tat!
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Hi geek83 - welcome. Yes, that's very true - look forward to chatting along the way...

  • Got some great news today - have been transferring bits and pieces to my Virgin credit card and went to check my balance online today. They had paid back charges and PPI - the balance has been reduced by a good chunk! Yahooo!

Off to update my signature :j
  • wow excellent news re the virgin cc!

I'm also at the stage like Skint where I need to be constantly kicked into moving my A!! lol, coming on here really helps though, makes me feel like i'm not alone after all ;)

Had some more good news today - MBNA are going to pay back the PPI on my old MBNA credit card (balance paid off) - around £500! Will put this straight into the CCs.

    Really worth claiming, peeps!

Am going to check out whatsthecost.com again tonight to do a new snowball.

Apart from that, trying to have as many NSDs as I can. Got a parking ticket yesterday (Sunday!!!) which was sickening :( £30 down the drain.
  • I never took any PPI's out on any loans I always used to sit there arguing I wouldn't need it. Kind of wish I had now to help bring my balances down lol!

well done to you though :)

  • Well done to you on staying so positive and well done on claiming on your PPI's. :T

There is nothing more gutting than getting a parking ticket.

It is great to read through and share in other peoples diaries too as it makes you feel that you are not alone and not quite so silly for getting to where you are now. ;)

The most important thing to focus on is that you are now facing up to it all and doing something about it. :A

Hope you have a good week and thank you for popping into my diary to lift my spirits. :D
