  • No, but the general working population loved it and kept voting them in, didnt they, despite ofsetting liabilities to later generations... Thanks a lot. Dont expect much when you reach retirement other than looking forward to getting liquidised.

  • Oh, and Hamish want's cheques writing to every household. .

Actually vouchers that can only be used in stores would be a better idea, but yes, direct stimulus as per Australia's successful example.

As for QE, yes, time to fire up the presses.

Funnel half towards business lending directly through a small business administration loan/grant programme, and the other half directly into households through mortgage lending through RMBS purchase and tax rebates/vouchers or whatever other form of stimulus you choose.

S0d the pensioners. They have had it too good for too long. They arent going to grow this country out of recession, they are the lame that will prolong the recession.

I also hope the boomers realise the young they screwed are going to be in power when they are in retirement and dribbling pea soup.

On a tracker mortgage now are we?

Seems more likely cannot hold down a decent job or get a girlfriend and is looking for someone to blame.
  • Wrong on both counts. And I am married.
  • but the main thing to remember is the benefit brigade will be fine. their benefits are safe. no drop in their standards of living. also, does anyone actually know a public sector worker who has lost their job????? me niether.

the biggest cost to this country are benefits, public sector pay and pensions. they need to be SLASHED by 50%. that is the only way out of this mess.
  • I do. We lost 170 pilots going through training a while back, and I know a load of navigators and air engineers that have also received redundancy. As for resource facilitators and breastfeeding advisors, seems to be plenty of cash around for them... Not to mention in office council workers
