Car Insurance increase

I was quite shocked this morning when I got my Car Insurance renewal letter through the post.
I drive a modest Ford Focus, domestic use only, 5000 miles average per year, kept on the driveway, Compulsory excess £200, SP30 3 points over 4 years ago, never made a claim, the Broker says 9 years NCB but not claimed in 26 years.
Fully comp £270, gone up £69
Plus
£10 Admin cost
£27 legal expenses cover
Tried GoCompare and their quotes are even higher.

You don't mention the area in which you live. This may be the biggest factor in the premium increases we're seeing at the moment.
Premium wise, rural areas are hardly rising, urban areas are rising rapidly.I am a mortgage broker. I am in an low crime area about 15 miles from a city in the south west. On the outskirts of a quiet town.
Not sure why there is such a big jump in price, thought my Broker was trying it on again but from the gocompare site it appears his quote is quite good.0 -

Pretty cheap.
On average prices went up 32% in 2010, although some people experienced more and some less.
There are many reasons for this.
If you've shopped around on any of the major comparison sites then you'll have a pretty good ball park figure for what the market is offering, so I'm afraid you'll just have to accept it's got more exepnsive and thank your lucky stars you aren't 19 years old.0 -

My quote wenty only went up 5% last year so maybe they are playing catch up.
This year the increase quoted was 35% but as I have been with them many years they shopped around and got me a much better quote.0 -
