E.ON and quidco

Hi, have never used quidco before so bear with me!

I want to change supplier of gas/electricity in a new house, unsure who it is with currently and have been looking at the save online 9 plan with E.ON which also has £50 cash back via quidco.

However when I click on the link to the E.ON page, this tarif doesn't exist, only the save online 10 tarif, which I'm assuming the cash back won't work on?

Any ideas anyone? Is it just a bit of a con, a similar tarif with very similar name but they can refuse to send the cashback or what?!

thanks!
First win (October) - Apple Ipod off a radio competition
November - new nokia mobile phone, £250 electrical voucher (both radio comptitions)
March - 2 cinema tickets to see 27 dresses (radio again!)

    Hi fudge7000,

SaveOnline 9 has ended now and we are offering SaveOnline 10, quidco is a third party company so I can't give you time of when this will be updated/changed.

But I have passed this on to a colleague to look in to and make sure everyone has the correct info.

    Thanks

    Helena :)

Helena - as E.ON's company rep, can you explain something for me on plan renewals and treating your customers fairly.

Yesterday, I received a renewal for my plan (SaveOnline V3) which expires on 31st October. The plan you wish to put me on is EnergyOnline.

The price of my current plan, based on my actual usage, went up last week by more that 19% (gas) and 14% (elec).
With the change of plan the prices for my usage will increase again by a further 19% Gas and 11.6% (elec).

How do you justify making such increses when a plan expires? I know that you have a tariff (SaveOnline10) that is cheaper than EnergyOnline, so why is it that you are ripping off customers, by not offering the best deal available to them?

    Hi eh130bu,

    Welcome to the forum :hello:

When a tariff ends, you have to go on another tariff, so we can keep on billing.

We can't automatically put you on to a contractual tariff, so this is why you would revert to the standard EnergyOnline.

You are then free to change on to which ever tariff would be best for you, the tariff's available to you are on your online account and you can also change your tariff this way.

We can't just say to all customers 'this is the cheapest tariff change to it' because what is best for one customer is not necessarily best for everyone and not everyone will be eligible.

    Hope this is clear.

Thanks for the prompt reply Helena.

However, I don't think that you really answered my concern. What is wrong with offering an extented contract on the current or latest version of the plan I am on?

E.ON is already aware of my usage, therefore should be in a position to offer me options and to tell me what is best for ME.

What you have done is put me on a tarriff that is £160 a year more expensive than SaveOnline 10. That in my opinion is tantamount to ripping off of customers who may not have fully understood what will happen if they take no action.

    Hi eh130bu,

I understand what your saying and I'm sorry I haven't explained properly.

When a tariff ends, it has finished so there is no extension of this, you will need to change on to a new tariff altogether.

    As we can't automatically put customers in to a contract we have to put them on to a tariff with no tie ins etc;

As you have already said, these are not always the most competitive, but the customer is then free to pick a new tariff.

Customers are able to see what tariff's they can change to and then they can decide.

I had a similar issue with EON where I received a letter stating that they had reviewed my payments and they had decided that I needed to pay £50 a month extra on my direct debits. This was despite the fact that my annual review was in June and they had automatically credited me back over £200 overpayments and my September bill was over £200 in credit.

I phoned them to ask why the additional payments and got some weak excuse about higher usage in winter months. I have been with them several years so they know my average useage and the bill had stated what my estimated usage was for the next 12 months and divided by 12 came to what I was already paying monthly.

While waiting for a call back (which never came, although I had been promised the manager would call back within 15 minutes) I looked at the energy switch sites and found a provider that was offering me savings of over £300 in a year so I signed up to change suppliers.

I called EON and asked if there was any way they would better my tariff but the person did not seem interested at all in retaining my custom.

EON always like to keep you well in credit if you pay by direct debit, they must be making millions in interest from customers in credit.
