Scottish Power Final Bill
I recently switched from Scottish Power to OVO New Energy Fixed Dual Fuel Tarriff.
The Scottish Power Gas/Electric Bill of £65.65 for 13/5/11 to 27/7/11 (76 days) works out at approximately £0.86 per day.
The final Scottish Power Gas/Electric Bill of £32.48 for 28/7/11 to 14/8/11 (18 days) works out at approximately £1.80 per day.
Scottish Power switched me to a Tarriff that's effectively 209% the price of the previous Tarriff!
I think it's very short-sighted of energy suppliers to treat their customers badly in the final days before they switch to a new provider. It doesn't motivate the customer to consider switching back in the next few years.
I have informed Scottish Power that the next time I consider moving my energy supply to another provider, they will not be considered.

out of interest how long did SP take to issue final bill ?
I'm up and running with new companies but still waiting for SP final bill. I think I started switch about 21 July.0 -
Your daily spend may have gone up by 209%. But the reasons could be estimated readings particularly on 28 July. Your consumption may not be particularly level either.

IMHO By giving a composite of gas and electricity costs, the waters are a bit muddied.
That said, have you checked that the standing charges or tier 1 elements of your bills have been calculated correctly? If, as in example #2 the period is 18 days out of a notional period of 91 days, then you should be charged for 18/91* of the tier 1 units for a quarter. The same goes for a standing charge. Summer can also rack up the daily costs as frequently the tier 2 threshold is not reached.0
