VW Golf wing mirror kicked off

Hi all,
My wing mirror was kicked off my car last night. It was hit with such force that whoever did it managed to snap the metal bracket on which the mirror sits.
Bizarrely, the casing and mirror are all fine. I've not tried the mirror motor but as the wiring is in tacked, I assume that will be ok too. I just wondered how much it would cost. Taking it to VW for a repair is not an option! I'll need a mechanic to replace it; it's the part I'm wondering about. Online searches have so far proven futile.
Thanks

Try breakers yard, gsf, euro car parts, or ebay.
This happens regularly to my car. I repair it using pieces of plastic (cut up pieces of drinking chocolate lid) and small twin thread wood screws. Cover this in black tape. Works well, even passed the mot like this. Much cheaper than replacing the mirror allthough its not ideal on an otherwise tidy or expensive car.0 -
I would try a scrap yard, glad you know to avoid dealerships/stealerships. There is a huge VW breakers near me who claim to be the biggest in the country, google Sanburn Coventry. They do mail order0

its easy to remove the mirror, a few bolts and a cover and unclip the electric cable its off.
if its heated electric, most likley the heater element has been broken on impact.

ive bought a few from this place some were even upto 45% cheaper PAINTED than a dealer would supplying one never mind painting it.0 -
I had the metal bracket replaced last week. Not sure about the labour as I didnt have to pay for it, but the part cost £74. Like yours the rest of the mirror was intact.0
