My solid Beech worktops are stained - can anyone help, please?

I had solid beech worktops installed in my new kitchen. I had to treat them myself and clearly haven't done a great job. There are now water stains around the sink, and a soy sauce stain on one surface. Will sanding work or is there anything else I can do to remove stains that seem to have seeped into the wood where the danish oil had clearly not been applied well enough?
I'd be very grateful for advice.

Have a look here at the repair section,

Thank you for this!
I'm struggling to judge whether or not it is better to take more off with sandpaper than I'd prefer to take off - because the stain seems quite deep - or whether to concentrate on keeping it oiled regularly from now on and hope the blemishes will fade in time...??0 -
I have beech block worktops and occasionally get black rings when I've left pan lids on it. (sounds like mean kids when I read that back!)
I generally sand them down a bit then whack on a new layer of linseed oil.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -
once you have fixed the problem, a tip I was given is to keep a cloth soaked with linseed/treatment oil under the sink, then you can just sweep it over the wood once a week or so to help keep it in good condition.0

we have solid walnut kitchen work tops and I believe you can lightly sand out the stain and re-oil. Were you given special oil to treat the wood? We did and I've found nothing stains our work tops.0

hmm, not sure "what type", as in linseed but will check the small print later today and come back to you. It was ordered as part of our kitchen order.0 -

Have just found this on https://www.worktops.uk.com
"One word of warning; do not store the used oily rag in an enclosed tin; they have been known in the past to spontaneously combust."
Worth knowing!0
