Housing Benefit and JSA not enough D:

I've spoken to Student Finance, they assured me that I should be eligible for a maintenance and college fees loan for 11/12 term, because they do subsidise the HND. I need to find out how much my years college fees are going to be for a remedial course, so I've made an appointment to see the head of engineering students at South Tyneside College to find out where I stand and how much I'll need. I can then apply and enroll etc. I can get looking at the student finance calculator up to £3800 per term for maintenance because I live away from the perental home. I'll be looking for a part time job in the meantime, not much I can do about my rent though now they've stopped my JSA I'm just going to have to be patient and hope my landlady is understanding.0

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but, as you've been a full time student all along and eligible for student financial support, you've been claiming benefits illegally. You need to contact the council,/JCP/etc immediately and explain the situation or you risk prosecution. You'll have to arrange a payment plan but, apart from that, I doubt that they'll take it further.
The fact that you haven't received any money is irrelevant; it was available to you (even if you didn't know it) and this is what matters.
Good luck.0 -
I'm pleased you've got to the bottom of it! Please take note of the above post - the quicker you ring up and sort the benefits you have been wrongly paid the better. They don't take kindly to benefit fraud, but if you try and rectify your mistakes quickly, then I'm sure it'll work in your favour. Have you spoken to your landlord/lady? I think you need to bite the bullet and have a frank conversation with them as you won't be getting HB and I presume your student finance will take a little while to sort. Good luck and well done for taking the bull by the horns and sorting things out, it's always a learning curve and I'm sure you will have taken something from the experience (apart from the benefits you weren't entitled to :P !) x0

I'm glad you've come to a solution but I think you will struggle to complete your STCW 95 without a sponsor, you will have a huge battle on your hands convincing any that you are fully committed if you lost the last one through your own actions. Good luck with it.0
