Can you opt out of Santander's OTP once you enroll?

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully someone who banks with Santander and uses OTP (One Time Passcode), or is familiar with the topic can advise.

My question: If you choose to register for Santander's OTP, can you opt-out at a later date?

If so is the opt-out option available via the website or do you need to go through Santander's customer service?

Any info on the topic much appreciated.

    No.

As things stand a couple of months ago, you cannot logon to Santander online banking without OTP although this may have changed again - I don't know as I've opted out of Santander altogether with a golden goodbye.

    Thanks for your reply.

I believe that Santander customers prior to OTP rollout have the option of not accepting it. The consequence of not accepting is that you are unable to add or change payments or direct debits online. This is currently my situation.

This is becoming a pain and it is only laziness and fear of the unknown (I've had my Abbey account for over 20 years now) that have stopped me moving.

I am particularly interested in whether you can opt-out of OTP once you have registered, but deep down I had the suspicion that registration is for keeps.
  • Just gone thru this today!

Got the invitation and noticed the OTP - looked for information seemed you had to give a mobile number.
Looked for a support number nothing looked on the internet and found a number for tech support.

Rang that and told the guy in Belfast that I don't have a mobile do they support me or do I leave?

No problem he said - As long as you don't mind setting up new payments on the phone we will remove the OTP page BUT you have to change to the new system first then wait for the supervisor to do his thing.
Promised to ring or send an email when completed - he did send the email about 1/2 hour after I had logged on.
