I've often read warnings not to use the will-making forms that can apparently be bought in some places, as the resulting wills have apparently often been challenged successfully after the person's death.
If you belong to a union, check to see whether it offers one free non-work-related legal consultation, or indeed a cheap will-making legal service.
Also of course phone around your local solicitors to get quotes on having a will done.
I have a will, but the solicitor only agreed to do it after telling me how the law would dispose of my estate if I died without one, to see whether that fitted in with my wishes. As it didn't, he drew me up a will. HTH:)
