Could anyone inform us whether it is advisable to disconnect our router overnight when not being used? Would this affect internet performance in any way, either good or bad?

Thanks for any advice

We leave ours on 24/7, but if you do prefer to switch it off there's no problem with that. It could take 2 or 3 minutes for your ADSL signal to resynch once the router is switched back on.

I disconnect my router every night with no problems. Its easier than logging in and disabling the wireless each time.

It was off for 4 days over christmas again no problems.

If you aren't using it, it has no need to be on..

If it's wireless, and insecure, it would stop others using it.

Any effect on speed will be negligible, and it may go up as well as down a bit.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Thanks everyone for your information, think I'll start disconnecting and see how it goes.
