    True, but seems weird,

You don't need to be working to get that 'select Account' to

so i assume he got the basic account because his 'credit history' must be shocking.

Most, if not all bank cards look basic and have uninspiring designs these days. This one appears to be no different either.

I recall one time RBS doing a card with a photo on the back - I thought that to be a very good idea. Think they did the same with their Access Credit Card.

I used to love having my photo on the back of my RBS card and my signature scanned in on the signature strip. :D

Yes it was a good idea. It cam pre-signed and the photo was a good anti fraud feature. The Highline Card of the time which was the old Switch Debit card was a nice design too.

I think my all time favourite Card Design was Abbey National's first or second generation Multifunction Debit Card back in 1995 ish. Way before Santander got their claws in.

I recall reading some were produced with animal's photos as an experiment. Very few transactions were refused as a result of the pictures not matching the holder.

Far from it. I have no need for a chequebook or overdraft, have RBS/NatWest ATMs nearby, so it's not pointless at all for me.

Besides, I was forced into the Basic from my Key account during the release of the new product range.

You couldn't be further away from the truth, my credit history is spotless.

Someone else asked for this... I've never heard of an AID number.
  • The AID for the Basic Account is 31010. This only shows that the card is a Visa Debit Card and not if it can be used as Futh Auth/Offline.
