Fictitious named drivers.....

As it's coming closer to winter I'm on the look out for my cheap winter run around and playing with insurance quotes. Now for some reason when I tried to knock a few quid off by adding my mum it wouldn't have it. So then i changed her to be my sister and then another relative, and it still wouldn't have it but when I left all the same details except making her younger and said she was my partner / spouse, it went through and knocked a fiver a month off the premium.
So that got me thinking; the car is down as:
Value - £500
Excess - £1000
which says I won't be claiming on it anyway if I did have an accident. So i'd never make a claim on it, the fictitious named driver is obviously never going to drive it to make a claim on it. So any claim on the policy could only be against me when I'm driving.
Would it be possible to do it without it ever coming back to bite you in the nuts?
** Note ** it's a question only, as instead of making up a person I could add my next door neighbour on who's around the age of the made up person.

If the insurance company were to find out that you lied they would make your insurance void,
Best thing to do is actually find someone and put them down as the other driver
You may not make a claim on it,but if an accident is your fault the other drivers insurance company will claim from your insurance companyOwing on CC £00.00 :j

What if you have a serious accident were some on gets hurt .or you get hurt ,or if you write off another car , then your busted , not a good idea :mad:0

but.. if the other driver doesn't exist, any claims would come from when the policy holder was driving, so would they ever ask about the named drivers or want to see their driving license etc.
I just did the 'test' to see how much a named driver would bring it down, and as the driver doesn't exist it got me thinking0 -

Can we have answers from people who can actually read?
seeing as the only two who have replied can't be bothered reading the bit that states I don't need to do it but just asking a question.0 -
They're getting wise to that.
Some companies insist on copies of all licences after they take your money, and penalise you then cancel if you don't supply them, others request copies when you make a claim, and then void the policy if you don't produce them.
(But they will take your money first though)0 -
I can imagine it's only going to become a problem if someone with the same Name, DOB, etc becomes "noteworthy" to the insurance company. (I mean they have a record for crashing etc)
It's only a game

To avoid accusations of fraud, you would need to give full details of the other person, including any claims they have had in the last five years and any driving offences they have.
They would also need to declare on their insurance quotes that they are insured to drive another vehicle.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. It is probably a low risk strategy but certainly not a no risk one. Some insurers will ask for driving licenses for all named drivers either as part of a claim or simply as a random spot check (or less random if they find no record of the person on CUE and yet you say they've been driving for X years claim free).0
