security camera for outside of property

I am looking into setting up some security camera for my elderly parents who live in a roughish area and have been the victims of vandals. I am wanting to put one round the front and back of the property. Has anyone seen any good one that they would recommend and what would be the easy way to set them up. Has anyone any knowledge or experience of setting up that they could share. Thanks

I can't provide recommendations, but be sure what you do is legal. I'm not 100%, but I think you may have to display notices that there is CCTV in operation. You also have to make sure that the cameras arn't positioned in a way that can view other people's properties, as this could be an illegal invasion of privacy0

No not true. You are a private person protecting your property. If your were a public authority then the Human Rights act and Ripa kicks in, but not in this case.
I would suggest speaking with your local crime prevention officer, he/she will be able to point you in the right direction.0 -

sounds about right, also different laws for differentthings if you had a camcorder pointing into your back garden recording it is legal if it was recording someone elses property I believe that would technically be breaking the law.0
