PPI claim to LLoyds TSB - how long before they should acknowledge my complaint?

Hi all,
I submitted 4 PPI claims (all on FOS questionnaires) to Lloyds by post (all in same envelope) on 12th September. Having read some threads elsewhere on the forum, it seems people are waiting a long time for payments, letters, communication from Lloyds. Also, I know from previous dealings with them on other matters, it takes ages to get anything from them (if at all).
How long should I wait for an acknowledgement of my claim before chasing up - is there a statutory/FOS timescale that banks have to honour, e.g. 5 working days? Or do we just wait in the queue?
all I'm after right now is a letter saying they've received my paperwork, and from past experience, correspondence from me and Citizens Advice Bureau to other departments in LLoyds has disappeared in to a black hole, so I'm not confident.
any advice appreciated. thanks!

They normally send an acknowledgement within 5 working days.
They might be behind at the moment due to the acceptance/payment issues.0
