Northern Rock - third party ppi

Hiya all

we have had a NR mortgage for around 8 years and I have been paying PPI all that time - but not through Northern Rock - for the past four years it has been through Pinnacle at £38.00 a month. How do I go about attempting to claim this back. As I am very sure that at the time of taking out the mortgage that I was told that I had to take out PPI. Do I go through Northern Rock or through Pinnacle?

And also, should I cancel my PPI with Pinnacle whilst I am doing this?

Many Thanks
Jen

What is your reason for complaint?
As I am very sure that at the time of taking out the mortgage that I was told that I had to take out PPI.

What evidence do you have to support that?

You complain to the retailer. If that was Northern Rock you complain to them. If it was a broker you complain to them.
And also, should I cancel my PPI with Pinnacle whilst I am doing this?

As long as you know you are not going to suffer a claimable event.

  • Thanks for the help with this. My mortgage was all done over the phone and I have looked through the paperwork and all I can see if a quote in the together mortgage book which goes
"We recommend that you consider Paysafe when reviewing your noew mortgage with us if you havent already got cover. You cant always rely on help from the government if you are unable to work, even if you become eligible for income support"

To me this reads a bit like scare tactics. But I can remember being informed that the mortgage would go though easier if I did take out PPI

That one paragraph blows your complaint out of the water. It is correctly worded and suitable and clearly indicates it is an option.

To me it reads exactly how a risk warning should do and that options exist to protect you.

    "Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance
The importance of this issue cannot be ignored. Customers are to be advised of the options available to safeguard their income and mortgage repayments"

I quote not from the sales manual of a commercial organisation but from the Good Practice notes of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board.
