My poor cat

My poor cat came home last week hurt, we thought he had been bitten by something as he had a chunk missing out of his nose and was sneezing blood. He brings us mice home most nights so we thought maybe one had put a fight. We took him to the vets and they kept him overnight and did a cct scan which showed he had been shot and a pellet was stuck in his skull. To say we were shocked was an understatement-we live in a relatively quiet area but there are obviously some evil people out there. We took him back to the vets today and they have decided to operate on him, I'm so worried and feel terrible because I didn't have a chance for a cuddle this morning, I'm also 6 months pregnant so feeling very emotional! The bill so far is £2000 and our pet insurance will cover the first £1000, I would pay anything to make him better but am so angry some horrible person would do this to a poor animal and not even think how much it costs the owners.
I will keep you all up to date with how he gets on

Oh Laura, what a horrible thing to go through. I really don't understand people like this.
A couple of years ago, someone shot the rear windscreen out of my car (driveway tucked round side of house & not within aim of main street, so they must've come into our wee bit to do it).
No obvious motive and the only thing I (or police) could come up with was someone taking a shot at one of my cats - it's horrible. I was paranoid about letting them out for ages afterwards.
Will be thinking of him xxGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thank you for your replies. We got the police involved but they were just here a few mins and I doubt they will ever find out who did it. If he recovers we are in a horrible situation and don't know whether to let him back out or keep him as a house cat. Part of me wants to keep him safe at home but he loves being outside and likes nothing more that playing in the garden with next doors cat.0

There are cowards out there who feel big by hurting small, defenceless beings. I hope your cat recovers and that idiot gets their just deserts.
I adore cats but don't have any because I can't fit a catflap in my flat and I would want it to go out as it pleases, but there's a lovely ginger tom who comes visiting often (his owner knows and approves).Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Words fail me.
I really hope he makes a speedy recovery xMortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
Would the local paper run a little feature on it? This may alert owners that there's someone out there taking pot shots. It will also alert anyone who hears a pistol shot and possibly exposure may stop the lowlife from trying again.
Hope your little boy is on the mend soon. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
