paint on lead flashing

The house we live in has bay windows with tiles/shingles between the upstairs and downstairs windows. On each side where they meet the bricks, there are lead flashings. In the past they have been painted black, but it is now starting to peel off. What sort of paint would it be? Black exterior gloss or a bitumen based paint? What should we use to re paint it?
Thanks

Its lead, does not require painting, unless for cosmetic purposes, as for paint type, not sure, hammerite possibly?0

use this - it doesn't need any primer and will last http://bedec.co.uk/MSP%20COLOUR%20CARD-1.pdflonger than undercoat and gloss0

Lead 'leaks' and putting a gloss on will result in peeling. Try and find water based acrylic in dark grey. Give the lead a good rub down (use a face mask and gloves) and it should be fine for years.0

Hey FBBB, I have a genuine interest with lead at the moment, experimenting TIG welding, as opposed to the norm of gas welding (lead burning) can you explain how leads leaks, is this over a long period of time (corrosion) or reacting with another material????
Thanx.
