Losing connection after buying online is this a proxy setting issue

Don't know if anyone can suggest anything with this but I keep losing connection directly after buying something online, this is affecting my cashback tracking, in fact it isnt tracking.
I'm using firefox and its as soon a payment has gone through it disconnects for a good 2 or 3 minutes.
I'm using a temp laptop until I get another pc (never had probs before) but I've set it to all the necessary settings for cashbacking but something is obviously wrong
I noticed in firefox, tools options advanced, it says 'configure how firefox connects to the internet', this was set on use system proxy settings but I don't think I have a proxy could this make the connection drop out after buying something online?
I temp swapped it to no proxy to test if firefox still connects to internet and it does plus when I connected with automatically detect proxy settings it also connects but I have left it on auto detect for now as not sure which is best
I do have the laptop connected to a router wether its classed as a direct connection or not I'm not sure but could that affect it
Do I need to be on no proxy or not and could this be the problem?
