savings for non-resident children

My brother and his family live in South Africa, and I would like to put money in a British account for the two kids for when they visit Uk and Europe. Most of the building societies refuse to open an account for non-resident children, though the inland revenue informs me that many accounts are available and I just need to get a "r105" signed for each child's account. I'm still searching for a building society that accepts non-resident - any help out there? (I did approach the Isle of Man etc, but they require a minimum investment of £5k which puts it out of my range!!)

You might try a branch of a South African bank - such as Investec.0
