Contact your bank that's the only way to find out. Good luck, I hope you get your money back

For the first time in my life I actually walked away from the ATM without actually taking the money I'd withdrawn. Duh, idiot.

It just sucks that others are so willing to take advantage of someone who today is basically a walking zombie.

It's just so selfish and greedy - whoever took it didn't think what the money means to the person they took it from. I needed the money for something, and now basically will have to go without it.

Don't assume the worst of people. I found £100 in an HSBC cashpoint on a bank holiday. Couldn't take it straight into the bank as it was shut but took it to a different HSBC bank later that week and paid it in telling them where I'd found it and I got confirmation that person had their money back within a few days.

Good luck with that one then, if someone walked away with it then your chances of seeing it again are 0 to -10 !

I once saw a machine with what must have been £400 in notes in its mouth, chirping loudly and 2 foreign girls walking away - it had taken a while to dispense (counting £400, I guess!) and they thought it hadn't worked. My mate ran after them, all sorted :-)

    so maybe 1 to -9 ;-)
  • This would make a good candid camera setup. I wonder how long it would take before they caught someone on film taking the money?

Good way to shame such a person by broadcasting it on national TV...

I'm sure Chris Hansen would be happy to present it.

Hundreds including me got scammed by the ones who connect a camera to the atm last week. The bank was packed with people complaining.Bank refunded next day or so...good service..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

If it was as fast as you make it sound, and if there wasn't anyone else waiting to use it, the probability is high that it was sucked right back into the machine. Generally the machine does link that back with the account it was taken from, but they're notoriously unreliable. It can take up to 48 hours to do it automatically, but contact your own bank (not the bank of the machine you were at, unless theyre one and the same) right away (as I see you have) - they can ensure that when the machine is next counted (could be tonight, could be in a fortnight), then discrepancies will be credited back.
If someone has taken it, however, you'll be lucky to see it - sorry.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

This thread was started on the 20th September. I would have thought the OP might have been on to report by now on whether or not he had got his money back?

Believe me, I've been checking my account nearly every day - it's only showed up now, which is why I'm back to update the thread :p

I did this a few months back. Well, actually I can't remember what I did, nor could my friend who was with me - went to pay for dinner a bit later and the £20 I withdrew earlier wasn't there so I presume I left it in the machine. Anyway, after spending the evening very annoyed with myself (I got a puncture on my bike that night as well and had to get a cab home :( ) I went into Lloyds a day or two later and filled out a cashpoint dispute form - being completely honest, not saying that the machine didn't give me the money just that I thought I must have left it in the machine and they said 'We'll just refund you it.' :D There were quite impressed with the long story I wrote about it as well. :p
