Hi,
I hope i have posted this on the right board. I started my own cake decorating business in Brighton and its been going ok so fair. Had a few orders from friends family and friends or friends.
My problem is getting the word out. I know word of mouth is the best advertisment i can have but i was just wondering of some other ways?
Obviously the less cost the better as i want my outgoings to be minimal. If any of you have any suggestion i would be so greatful.

Website, flyers, wedding fayres, bakeries (that don't sell cakes), business cards, car magnet advertising, window clings, speak to hotels & councils (get on there "preferred" list), check out the website of other cake makers and see how competitive you are.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Could you get a stall at a farmers market selling cupcakes etc? Take along a couple of full size decorated cakes as examples and give every customer a flyer and if you have room put up a poster. Make some money while generating a customer base!0

Business page on Facebook.
A free account on LinkedIn - a bit like facebook for businesses
Twitter - loads of cupcake makers on twitter.
All free ways of promoting your business.
The wedding fayre season has started again, so find out about stands. Vintage fayres are becoming popular too.
Try speaking to various independent coffee shops in your area. I know that where I live in Birmingham that a few of the independents have great cake and cupcakes which they buy from local independent suppliers. Look for new ones opening in your area (sometimes you can find out about these on LinkedIn in some of the groups they have on there that you can join).0
