pc rediculously slow!

Hi
I have had to come to my mums to post this coz my pc is that slow it takes 10 mins just to load a page, i ran the antiv programme (thinks thats what its calld) and it hasnt changed, i'm really not computer savvy, are there anyother things that could be making it so slow?

I think you will find it is this site, not your pc. The upshot of the problems experienced today is that people have ended up posting multiple times, pages do not load or the site bombs out.
I have just come back on for a few minutes and although everything was okay a little while ago, it is playing up again and pages are just not loading.0 -
You could run this,it takes hours but it cleans your computer up http://safety.live.com/site/en-us/default
Have she got windows clean up ? if not get that,and Ccleaner is good as well.Advanced window care is good as well,and it will tell you what you have coming up in your start menu,and then click the ones you dont need to stop starting up when you switch computer on,0 -
Defragging your hard drive is also a good idea0

I don't suppose you're antivirus was running a full system scan at the time? Is it just this new fangled interweb thingy or do other things like word processors etc. run slow?
And, dare I ask, is it a slow PC? What sort of spec (processor / memory / free hard disk etc.)?

My download speed is 773 and my upload speed is 224 does that sound about right to anyone please. I too have noticed a slowness over the last couple of days
and often the pages cannot be found :eek:

Carmen.I am on Aol silver,and my speed is 967 kbps and 231 upload.I think its how far away you are from your bt exchange as well.0
