Faulty item ended up doubling tradesmans fees - help needed

My landlord bought an item which needed to be installed in my flat by a tradesman. The tradesman came to the flat to install said item and half way through the job the item turned out to be faulty. The tradesman was forced to return for a second visit a few days later to install the item again after. Now the tradesman is charging double the fee as he had to visit twice to begin the job. is my Landlord within his rights to request a refund for the second visit from the Manufacturer of the item?
Any help would be appreciated.
Mildred.

The manufacturer would have to replace the faulty item, which they have done. I think it would then be a gesture of good will if they refund the first call out. Would it not have been possible for your LL to identify it as faulty before organising tradesman?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks for your response Pinkshoes. Unfortunately, there was no way that my LL would have been able to realise that the item was faulty until it was installed and found to be leaking due to a manufacturing error. It was the tradesman that identified the product as faulty and thus a second visit had to be arranged.0

Why is this your problem? Landlord is paying the whole bill (Item plus tradesman) surely???0

Get your LL to sort it0

Perhaps OP has a good relationship with the LL and is just trying to help?0

maybe so but still isnt something for the OP to worry about but if the OP wants to help then they're choice
thanks, yes we have a good relationship so i would like to be able to offer some kind of assistance. what a sad place the world would be if we all took an "it's your problem not mine" attitude. mostly, i just don't like to see people getting ripped off. with a job which should cost £120 costing nearly £500 i'm shocked and appalled that some tradesmen think that they can get away with the prices they try to charge.0 -

How has the cost gone from £120 to £500
A tradesman doesn't have to justify his/her prices, if you don't like the prices you find somebody else.0
