I read somewhere that your more likely to get ecoli from organic fruit and veg, because of the manure. My DD had this when a baby and it is not nice.

Organic is a waste of money. Quorn sausages? Whats wrong with normal sausages? I spent £50 on last night's shop. Family of 4 in Aldi's. They do nice sausages for 99p a pack.
There's no point in eating organic, then buying yoghurts full of sugar and pans au chocolate thingies.
Aldi fruit is 69p a pack.

Errr.... normal sausages aren't vegetarian that's the main difference :rotfl:

Its hard with 2 small kids, I know I have 2 preschool kids and go to the supermarket myself as its cheaper than ordering online. It more effort but I do main shop in Morrisons but go to Aldi as well and stock up on friut and veggie, cheese amd milk as much cheaper. I also buy item we use in bulk when on special like soap powder, Dishwasher tablets, Robinson jucie etc and store unde the stairs. We now have a veggie patch oh and I buy bread when its reduced and stash it in the freezer and make all my meals from scratch. It an effort I know as I work full time and have 2 small kids but I would rather use the money I am saving from this effort on days out and such...Good luck

Looking again at my shopping list, I do think there's a muller overdose..
I do have fruit bowls shops near me and cheap food markets.. don't shoot me but I'm suspiscious why they're so cheap... are they cast offs for some reason (like been watered by dirty or used water..etc)

    Um no.

The reason that these bowl are "so cheap" is because supermarkets are outrageously expensive.

You have got used to paying higher prices so are suspicious.

You seriously wouldnt believe what price wholsale F&V is, and the fact that markets, corner shops and green grocery do continue to turn trade. I could ramble on about food safety law, this page should start you off. http://www.food.gov.uk/foodindustry/imports/enforce_authorities/

Organic produce has been linked to many E coli outbreaks especially in America. Plenty of issues around about organic produce: the cheapest of all organic produce is that you grow yourself in your own garden or allotments.

Heres some gumpf about use of animal manures in farming: http://animalhealth.defra.gov.uk/managing-disease/animalbyproducts/compost-biogas-manure/manure.htm If you are interested it is there.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Stacey what is Acton market like I have never been there. Or Shepherds Bush?

I used to work nearer Church street market NW8 which is ok but its better out this way I have to say.

Even berwick st market Soho is cheaper ( by a mile) than supermarket headline prices.

  • On the high street there are probably ten or so fruit and veg shops sole
On the main street some tucked away, I am going to go have a look on Saturday- I am excited! From what I've seen in passing lots of fruit is very very cheap!!!
