Glitter03 you should be able to ring up and book a slot. I had to change mine to a different time, so they gave me a new slot, mind you, haven't had confirmation like they said.

Thankyou for that. I ended up using Sainsbury's as i could not wait any longer for them to fix the site!

As I work for Tesco and have the details of exactly went wrong, I find it quite amusing that they're trying to pass it off as "technical glitch" - in all honesty with the scale of the issue that was faced I'm impressed it was resolved as quickly as it was!

Sometimes I wonder why companies aren't just open about the problems they are facing; it would make customers trust them a lot more and perhaps give them a reason for the downtime rather than just a generic message that serves to actually make the situation worse in a some cases!

Yep, a message like, 'our SSL server is down, please bear with us', not only would be helpful to non technical users, but also exposing a great big hole in the infrastructure.

Perhaps not as technical an answer as that, but to use your example surely a message like "we are experiencing problems with our website security and have taken it offline to resolve" would be better?
