Did not get holiday I paid for

Options
Can anyone give me any advise regarding how to go about getting my money back for a holiday.

I paid for a 4* Full Board family friendly holiday to salou in August through Broadway Travel. When i arrived at the hotel there was no booking made for us. Broadway travel then sent us (2 adults and 2 children) to a 2* self catering 1 bedroom apartment, which was predominantly 18-30s. The hotel couldn't be further away from what we paid for and we spent our holiday spending money on food, which meant our daughters missed out on their dolphin experience.

I've attempted to get a chargeback on the credit card, but the cc company say they we are not covered as my dad paid on his card.

Any advise on what to do next.

Many thanks

Clare

    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • Have you been offered any compensation by the travel company?

You will not be entitled to a full refund because you had some form of holiday (albeit not what you paid for or expected).

Did you complain to the travel firm rep DURING your stay - continously and not just the once when the reservation was not there?

Did you get receipts for all the meals, additional expenses incurred, etc ?

Have you followed the travel firms Complaints Procedure ?

Did you ask for a FULL refund or (more resonably) just for out of pocket expenses/additional costs to be reimbursed?
“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”
  • I agree with what phoodless says and you need to put your complaint in writing to the travel company outlining your out of pocket expenses plus what should be your refund for an inferior standard of accommodation etc.

You could contact Consumer Direct who will give you advice on the best way forward and while they don't take any direct action they log the complaint and keep track.

There is the possibility it could get messy so there may be the need to take them to court to get the refund you deserve.

What is it with you and name calling? Why are you so rude?
  • Apologies for the delay in replying and thank you for your advise. I think I'll go down that route of complaint, as recommended by shorthanded. No, I've not been offered any kind of compensation yet. I'm prepared for it to be a drawn out process, but I won't let that phase me. Thanks again for your advise
  • 'phoodless' - Hi, yes I have kept all receipts, photos, video evidence and was in constant contact with the travel company whilst in Salou. They offered to arrange a flight home for us, but at our own expense. Thanks for your advise. I think that is the best option to be honest.
