Hi. Got an Acer laptop - about 2 years old and yesterday it appears that one of the built in speakers has blown. I use it to catch up with i-player etc. Is it repairable please or a new laptop!:(

you should be able to pick up a replacement part, fitting it might be a hassle right enough - i would ask for a quote from a local pc repair shop before you decide to ditch it completely! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yep, but you may be able to take it into any electronics repair shop to do it.
The part should be easy enough to obtain, but as mentioned, fitting it will mean removing the casing and possibly soldering the new speaker onto the motherboard.
Worth looking into for repair as apart from soldering it on properly it should be straightforward enough.0 -
you should be able to get a spare speaker to fit.
If not, use head phones or an external speaker (can be normal 3.5mm jack or usb)
I would NEVER waste money on a new laptop JUST because the speaker has gone. Its like throwing away a zippo because it ran out of flint.0 -

It will be repairable but it won't be cheap!
In this situation, I would tend to think on getting a little speaker to plug in to the headphone socket. Some are surprisingly good and don't cost very much..0 -
Thanks all - I'll take it into my local repair shop.0
