RSB 10 year limit on credit card PPI

Hi all,
I have been trying to reclaim PPI from RBS on an RBS Advata/Mint credit card going back to 1996. They are saying that their records only go back to 2001, any one else had this? I hardly used the card in the last 10 years but used it heavily for the first five due to house move.
They said if I had the statements from 1996 to 2001 they would reconsider but I don't.
Not sure what to do next

Hi there
Shame you've no statements boxed up somewhere, but we don't think about keeping these things years on end do we.
If they're unable to go back to the start of your account, maybe the next best thing would to go to as far as they have the details of your account, surprising how it all adds up.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Yes. It is not uncommon that the further back you go, the less likely records are to still exist. They said if I had the statements from 1996 to 2001 they would reconsider but I don't.
That is the normal position. Not sure what to do next
Unfortunately, if they have no details and you have no details then it hits a brick wall and you have nowhere else you can take it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
