I recently bought a 2GB Mp3 player from Currys ... the £24.99 one currently on offer.
The model is Matsui 120MR. I have hooked it up to the PC using the USB cable provided and copied and pasted tracks from my folders on the PC over to the MP3 folder. They all show up as being on the MP3 player and all the title tracks are there, but on some albums no music plays at all.
Have I done something wrong ? How come some of the tracks work and some don't ?

Thats what I thought, but I have downloaded two of the albums from allofmp3.com. They have been downloaded exactly the same way and are stored in the same all tunes folder, yet the player only plays one of the albums. It knows the album is there because it lists it, but it just wont play it and sometimes crashes too.0

When downloading a "lossy file" (mp3, ogg, aac, wma) there are several variables. The birate is an obvious one, but allofmp3 also offers you the chance to download superior variable bitrate (vbr) files. Cheap or poor quality, portable media players can have problems with low bitrates, high bitrates, and variable bitrates, and sometimes id3 tags. So the files that wont work might have these characteristics.
You need to compare the properties of the files and try and spot differences
A good media player will allow you view the properties. eg Foobar2000 or Winamp.
Try to find differences for the files that wont work
For instance using Foobar2000 add the files, then play them. Does the bitrate shown on the the screen vary, on the files that wont work? That indicates variable bitrate. Right Click on an mp3, then click on properties. Does it show a bitrate, or a bitrate and nominal bitrate? If it shows a bitrate and nominal bitrate you downloaded (superior) variable bitrate files.
If all the files are constant bitrate mp3's, are the files that wont play much higher or lower bitrates?
But there could be other reasons. Your going to have to experiment. If you cant find a solution, bring the player back. If you find the problem is the way the file was encoded you can use software like foobar2000 to convert files to a mp3 format your player can handle.
Since your downloading from allofmp3 I suggest you dont use the mp3 format to download your "master files" in future. mp3 requires a higher bitrate to get the same quality as ogg, aac, or wma. I suggest downloading files in ogg q5, storing them, then making copies into mp3/wma/aac when you need them. Foobar2000 will mass convert files from ogg to mp3/wma/aac. And there will always be free software for ogg on the web.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
