I told her , when she came back that something wrong with the car etc...and told her a story of a catalic converter stolen from my mates van recently.

I have heard it in the radio too and it seem to becoming too common--- hide your vans/pick ups guys

cats are worth good money if they are original OE cats aftermarket one less so, but none the less a 4x4 is an easy target to these metal/cat theifs as the vehicle is high enough to just crawl under and undo the bolts and off with it. what can an average person do to prevent these type of thefts? unless you can garage one nothing really, we have an issue in my area where petrol theifs are on the up, 6 cars over a spate of a few weeks has been hit some caught on camera doing it and are different people one repeatedly targeting the same cars he took from. some are just cutting the line and emptying the tank, but one perp has done things quietly by prisin open the tank cap and knocking through the anti syphon bung in the filler tube and comes back to help himself untill his work has been spotted, my nextdoor neighbour has come to me a few times saying his car is using allot of diesel, but when i opened the filler cap noticed the anti syphon gone and is sat in his tank now blocking his fuel metering gauge giving the impression he is low on fuel police knows the person who is doing it but untill the per is caught in the act or going equiped what can they do? same as cat theifs, a few has gone missing in my area mainly off high suspension vehicles such as 4x4's but are few and far between but i see a rise in this trend coming.0

^^ They've been drilling holes in petrol tanks around by me, they drill the hole, take some fuel, stick a rubber bung in it and come back every week or so when it's been topped up.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Wrap the cat in razor wire, end of problem.
Put some bleach on the blood stains in the morning.
Alternatively for most 4x4's it would be easy to get someone to fabricate and fix a thick steel plate under the cat making it impossible to get too, probably get a purpose made plate from an offroaders site.
Dab of weld on the securing bolts, job done.0 -

Sounds downright dangerous and putting lives at risk; the police and courts should stamp this out pronto but I don't expect they will.
What part of the country do you live if you don't mind me asking? I am not aware of it happening around me in Portsmouth so far anyway.0 -

Seems to be happening around Worcestershire and the West-midlands....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
