hi guys,
advice please.....we sent a claim via BELMONT THORNTON for a PPI claim to lloydstsb over a year ago...we heard nothing until this year when lloyds gave in and decided to pay out on all claims...Lloyds contacted us directly, not through belmont thornton with an offer which we accepted. still at this point heard nothing from belmont thornton. today we recieved a letter from belmont thornton stating they want 25%+vat for the claim which comes to £2300. i dont think we should pay the money as they haven't resolved the claim, lloyds have. lloyds have not made any offers through them, they have dealt directly though us.....where do we stand????

Hate to say it but it sounds like Belmont Thornton did exactly what you asked them to do and send your claim in and have been successful. From reading other posts that is all the claims companies have to do "send the letter on your behalf" lots of other people have had the same happen, they hear nothing from the claim company until it comes to demanding their payment. Did you at anytime contact Lloyds yourself directly regarding the claim after employing the services of Belmont Thornton?
I'm afraid that once a claim company send your claim off they are entitled to their fee if successful, regardless of how much extra leg work they put in or not in your case

Unless you can find a breach of the MOJ Rules by them that, had it not occurred you would not have used their services, you are contractually obliged to pay.
£2,300 for a stamp seems a bit on the steep side to me but that is what you signed up to.
Download Martin's Teen Cash Guide. Read it, take particular note of the bit where it explains that everybody, no matter how much they might seem to be your friend, is offering a product or service because they can benefit from it and only do business if you are satisfied that the benefit is worth the cost to you.0
