Need to switch soon but where to?

Our British Gas Fixed Price 2011 comes to an end on 30th Sept. Npower sign online 23 discounted rate and an Edf fix until 30 Sept 2012 are the cheapest for our usage on comparison sites.

Have the price increases been taken into account on these sites or will the npower one go up on 1st Oct?

The energyhelpline.com site says if I select the provider+deal now then they can process the switch on 30th Sept as my fix is up then, leaving earlier would penalise us.

Is this right? I haven't switched provider online before!:)

The comparison sites have all been updated with the latest declared price changes (even if they have not yet come into force).

If you switch supplier today, it won't go live until after 1st October as it takes at least 28 days ... so feel free to switch.
(Just be careful what tariff the existing supplier plans to place you on 1st Oct as you don't want to have any early exit fees)

  • Thanks, existing supplier has offered another fix but it's much more expensive so am switching....I assumed we'd be moved to their standard tariff....where would I find this out?
