claiming DLA with bilateral PE and thrombophilia

Hi, just wondering if anyone has claimed DLA Care/Mobility with bilateral PE and possible thrombophilia.
My partner is 29 years old and just recently has had her 3rd Clot in 7 years resulting in infarction of the lungs and lifelong dependency of warfarin. Because of this her employers have suggested that if the condition persists they will not allow her to return to work and the chances of her getting further employment will be very limited. So my question as above would be is she able to claim DLA as her condition is limiting what she can do for herself.
Thank you for reading.
Leigh.

DLA is awarded for care/mobility needs not diagnosis so it really depends on what care and/or mobility needs she has, how long they've lasted and how long she's likely to have them. If she's got care and/or mobility needs, have had them for at least 3 months and is likely to have them for at least 6 further months then she can apply for DLA
DLA is not an out of work benefit so you can claim it while working.
If she is unable to work due to illness then she can claim Employment Support Allowance (when she's not receiving SSP or occupational sick pay).0 -
As above rekray. Have to apologise I'm no medical expert and these conditions are away from my spheres of knowledge although I've a good idea what they relate to. What I can say in addition to Manda's post is that sometimes looking at the DWP medical conditions guide can sometimes be helpful as they go into things like care and mobility considerations for conditions although the benefit of course isn't awarded for the conditions themselves. Unfortunately the guide is particularly light in detail in this respect on these illnesses.
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/medical-conditions/a-z-of-medical-conditions/ (is the A-Z list to search through)
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/medical-conditions/a-z-of-medical-conditions/venous-disorders/ (is what may be the relevant section in this case)
You'll see on the left side their are subgroups for things like prognosis, sources of evidence, and care/mobility considerations you can select.
Might be worth doing a scan across the web for (British) groups/forums for people with such conditions and seeing if any of them discuss benefits.
This is the DWP guide for DLA/AA which can be useful in seeing things from the 'other side' regarding a claim. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dmgch61.pdf"Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0
