hi
I had a Topshop card when i was a student a good few years ago anyway i came across some of the statments and i had no idea i was paying PPI didnt even know what PPI was then.
So i sent santander the downloaded letter with £1 cheque, today i have recieved a letter back from them saying the following .....
As the account has no outstanding balance and has been closed, there is no obligation for us to supply information under this Act. I am there fore retunring your enclosed cheque to you.
I trust this clarifies the situation and i am sorry that i could not be of assistance on this occasion.
Where do i go from here?? can anyone help??
thank you in advance

Hiya
You can still make a reclaim, what you received is the letter to confirm because the account is no longer active they may not any longer hold the agreement details.
So for the reclaim, which is the step 3 complaint reclaim questionnaire, send and remember to keep a copy as well, good luck.

I had a Burtons store card many years ago that I have tried claiming PPI back on. I was using a Investor Compensation to make the claim and after not hearing from them for a few weeks phoned them today to see how my case was getting on. The chap their said that they received a letter from Santander saying that as the account was started in 1997 before they became regulated on 14th january 2005 that they wouldn't uphold my claim.
Is this correct?0 -
Burtons is part of Arcadia Group. On 14 January 2005, when general insurance became regulated by the FSA, Arcadia became an Appointed Representative of Santander. Santander therefore became responsible for all its insurance related activities from that date until 5 May this year, when it ceased to be regulated.
Activities prior to that are the direct responsibility of Arcadia but because it has never been directly regulated by the Financial Services Authority are not subject to the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service.0
