Price comparison confused
Am looking to change my gas company and am rather confused with the comparison sites.
They all say i would be better off with n power sign on line 23 but they are varying in savings
energyhelpline say saving £114
moneybuyer market says £69
Simply switch says £114
U switch says £70
I am with Atlantic at the moment on line no standing charge i pay £35 a month but review up soon so could be more i have put my yearly use in and not what i pay

You will get better help here if you post your annual consumption.
Is it just gas you are looking to switch or gas and electric?0 -
Just gas at moment dual fuel coming up more expensive than seperate.
My tarrif is Atlantic domestic standard online nil service charge i use 10632 yearly0 -

OK. I checked using TheEnergyShop (which I usually find accurate) and the Energyhelpline. Both agreed on both headline cost and savings. In theory Consumer Focus accredited comparison websites should agree but "confusion" is not uncommon, usually related to the exact name of the current tariff and/or current tariff "discount" issues.
I recommend you just go on the headline cost. Be aware that "guaranteed discount" tariffs only "guarantee" the (typically 2%) differential with the supplier's (variable) standard tariff for which dubious benefit you subject yourself to a Early Termination Charge. Also be aware that NPower (and Atlantic) tariffs commonly feature "deferred discount". If you go with NPower Sign Online 23 you subject yourself to the dubious benefit of both "guaranteed discount" and "deferred discount". Given that, it is hardly surprising that SO23 seems on the face of it to be "very competitive":D.
Beware "deferred discount" tariffs if you do not understand the circumstances you could forfeit the discount.
Sometimes seperate suppliers offer a bigger saving (as you may have found) but "normally" dual-fuel deals will prove cheaper and a lot easier to manage.0 -
Thank you for taking the time to look for me so i take it these savings include the 12 month discounts. I have been stung by n power for my electric on the sign on line 20 it runs out in october but they did not start supplying me till 24th Dec and the first dd payment went out in Feb so am unsure what i will do with that one probably be best to loose the 12 month discount.0

The annual cost from all the sites for nPower is the same (i.e. about £410)
The difference in the saving comes from the difference in the annual cost of your current supplier, Atlantic.
This is because Atlantic offer the 13th month free (equivilent to 8.33% discount, or about the £44 difference).
Those sites that show the higher saving state they do not include the discount as you need to be with the supplier longer than 12 months to get it, yet the other sites that show a lower saving have included the 13th month free discount.
HTH explain the difference"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
