And I don't think we should be going there.

I stand by what I said: this needs proper, paid for, advice. The best we can do is flag up some of the areas which that advice should cover, so that the OP knows what to be looking out for.

There's the issue of joint ownership of a property neither intends to live in - the 'what if' situations arising from that. There's what to put in wills so that a sibling / son isn't disadvantaged. And there's probably more, which a good solicitor / accountant would know how to draw out.

That was the only issue really, Sue, the IHT implications of JT v TIC (I was OK with the other implications). But further research shows Britannia to be correct.
