Insurance refunds

Options
I have recently had to cancel a holiday booked and paid for, due to ill health. I have received most of my money back but Virgin say that I am only entitled to £78 per person as the rest is taken for fuel surcharges, surely as we didn't actually fly we are entitled to all the fuel surcharges to be refunded. Also the hotel only refunded half the money paid, I understood that cancellation before 24 hours was a full refund. Is this correct please?

depends on your terms and conditions as detailled when you took out the insurance.
  • I believe you may be able to claim your fuel surcharges back direct from the airline, which may be why your insurance won't cover it, but as visidigi says, you will need to check the Ts and Cs.
