Hi . need help.
I have McFee 2005 internet security suite on my pc. The updates have expired, and I dont want to go with them again.
I want to take it off, and install some free stuff or a different security suite.
Need recomendations for free stuff ( I have read threads on here). Also what is the best security suite. Zonealarm , Trent, ect ?.
Does Norton/McFee slow down your PC ?
Im not to hot on these things so any help wouid be gratefull.
Cheers Shug.

for antivirus
AVG
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free
or avast

Firewall
Kerio free

says 30 day trial but this is just some "extra features" that you would never use , it remains a fully working firewall
for spyware (assuming you have Xp)

make sure you have unistalled McAfee before you install your new firewall and antvirus. download your new programs to desktop, then uninstall McAfee.Boot back up and then install your new programs,I always do it with my modem out, because you wont have a firewall or antivirus running while you are installing .0

I received these instructions from McAfee when I advised them I did not wish to renew:
1. Go to http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/default.asp?siteID=1
2. Type uninstall in the Search Knowledge Base field 3. Select one of the listed Search Results for uninstall

I have mcafee which was free on my new PC but I dont like it I dont trust it and get on with it. I was used to using Norton but I dont want that clogging up the PC. We do a lot of downloading of music etc so need good protection. Recommendations please.
Thanks Jen0 -
